How to Check Your DSL Connection Settings in Windows 2000

You can check your DSL connection settings by looking at the configuration in Network and Dial-up Connections

How to Check Your DSL Connection Settings in Windows 2000
  1. Click the Start button, click Settings, and choose Network and Dial-up Connections.

  2. Click the EarthLink DSL connection icon with your right mouse button, then choose Properties.

  3. Uncheck all the boxes except for the first iVasion PoET Adapter (SERIAL6-0).
  4. In the Phone number field, type seven zeros.
  5. Check the box next to Show icon in taskbar when connected.

  6. Click on the Options tab.
  7. Uncheck all the boxes except for Display progress while connecting and Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc.

  8. Click on the Security tab.
  9. Click the Typical (recommended settings) radio button in the Security options area.
  10. Click the down arrow on the Validate my identity as follows drop-down list and choose Allow unsecured password.
  11. Uncheck the box next to Show terminal window and Run script.

  12. Click on the Networking tab.
  13. Click the down arrow on the Type of dial-up server I am calling drop-down list and choose PPP: Windows 95/98/NT 4/2000, Internet.
  14. Check the box next to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Client for Microsoft Networks.

  15. Click on the Sharing tab.
  16. Uncheck the box next to Enable Internet Connection Sharing for this connection.
  17. Click the OK button.
