This article walks you through configuring the Zyxel 660R-61 router for Bridge Mode.

Zyxel 660R-61 - How to Configure Router for Bridge Mode

In order to configure your router for a home network, you will need to configure it for Bridge Mode.

Configuring your Router for Bridge Mode
  1. Type the router's IP address in your browser address bar and hit the Enter key. The default IP is 192.168.1.1.

  2. You should receive a login prompt. If this is your first time logging into the Zyxel, the default password should be 1234.

Note: If the login screen doesn't appear, make sure the Ethernet cable from your computer to the router is in place. If the Ethernet cable is connected properly, restart your computer. If you still can't get to the password screen after you restart, see KB article 4725 to set up your network control panel to use DHCP and then try again. If all else fails, reset the router by holding down the Reset button the back of the device for 10 seconds and then attempt to access the router again.

  3. If you logged in with the default password of 1234, the Zyxel will prompt you to change this password. It is recommended that you change this password for security purposes. Type the new password twice in the fields provided and hit Apply.

  4. The Zyxel main menu should appear. You will click the Wizard Setup link.

    • Virtual Circuit ID: VPI: 0 VCI: 35

  7. At this point, it will be necessary to connect your Home Networking router to the Zyxel's LAN port. With the Zyxel in Bridge mode, you must have another device in place that is configured for PPPoE authentication. See KB article 3901 for help connecting your devices properly.
