How to Configure Windows 9x or Me for DHCP

To configure Windows 9x or Windows Me for DHCP, click the Network Neighborhood icon with your right mouse button and choose Properties, then follow the instructions outlined below.

How to configure your computer for DHCP
  1. Click the Network Neighborhood icon with your right mouse button, then choose Properties.

  2. Choose TCP/IP -> (Your Network Adapter) from the list.
  3. Click the Properties button.

  4. Select Obtain an IP address automatically.

  5. Click on the WINS Configuration tab.
  6. Select Use DHCP for WINS Resolution.

  7. Click on the Gateway tab.
  8. Verify that there are no gateways installed.

  9. Click on the DNS Configuration tab.
  10. Select Disable DNS.
  11. Click the OK button.
