How to Reset TCP/IP in Windows XP

Follow the steps below to reset TCP/IP in Windows XP.

How to Reset TCP/IP in Windows XP
  1. From the Start menu, choose Run.

  2. In the Open field, type cmd.
  3. Click the OK button.

  4. At the command prompt, type: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt and press the ENTER key.

    Internal Note: If the command does not execute, try executing the command at the root. To change to the root directory, type CD\ in the prompt and hit the Enter key. You may also try to execute netsh in the \windows\system32 directory. To change to this directory, type CD\windows\system32 and then hit the Enter key.

  5. When the command prompt reappears, type exit then press the ENTER key.

  6. Restart the computer.

    Congratulations! You have successfully reset TCP/IP in Windows XP.
