How to Configure an EarthLink E-mail Account in Windows Mail


  1. You will need the server settings for your e-mail address. Go to http://support.earthlink.net/support/BROWSEHELP/email/ to get these settings.

  2. Open Windows Mail.

  3. Click on Tools and select Accounts from the drop down list.

  4. On the Internet Accounts screen, Click the Add button.

  5. Select E-mail Account on the "Account Type screen" and click Next.

  6. Enter the Display Name of your choice and click Next.

  7. Enter the EarthLink E-Mail address and click Next.

  8. Select POP from the drop down list of server types.

    • In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field, type your Incoming mail server (POP) .

      Important: Refer to step 1 to find out the email server settings for your email address.

    • Type  smtpauth.earthlink.net in the "Outgoing Mail Server" field and click Next.
    • Select the box "Outgoing server requires authentication."

  9. Enter the E-mail username and Password, then check the box " Remember password" and click Next.

  10. Make sure "Do not download my e-mail and folders at this time" is checked and click Finish to return to your Internet Accounts list.

  11. Select your EarthLink Mail account, then click Properties.

  12. On the Properties screen, Click the Advanced tab and make sure that the SMTP Port Number is set to 587 and the POP Port Number is set to 110 and click Ok.

  13. Your EarthLink e-mail account is now configured to check and send mail.
